In 2016, Alex moved with his parents from the small country town of Denmark (Great Southern, near Albany) to Western Australia’s capital city of Perth.

Alex adapted quickly to the city and immediately gained a new found curiosity of the urban terrain - a structural contrast to his simplistic rural upbringing, in the rugged yet captivating wilds of the South West.

Following a coincidental passing by a community car club event, Alex began using his phone to photograph sports cars.

Gradually, Alex began networking and experimenting with the camera in his hands at this very event. As his experience and equipment expanded, he privately photographed local for family and friends. A year later in mid-2019, Alex joined some friends to debut WA’s first large scale automotive photoshoot at an airport.

In March 2021 Alex was generously gifted a small quadcopter by his parents for his birthday. Even as Alex’s name expanded in the WA automotive industry, hosting hundreds of photoshoots, this gave him an opportunity to rediscover the natural world.

Every drone flight, every adventure - wildlife was captivating Alex more and more, as it did when he was young. August 2021 saw Alex rebrand from ‘Forrest Super Cars’ to ‘Forrest Media’ to accomodate diversification of photography genres. After Alex learnt to SCUBA dive via his school that December, he next decided to pitch for his parent’s permissions and registered the ABN for ‘FORREST MEDIA’ on Boxing Day at just 15 years of age.

It wasn’t until mid-2023 that Alex had began pointing his lens toward conservation with consistency, having received attention for his nature and landscape photography that would catalyst his growing connection to the landscapes and seascapes humanity has designed itself with.

Alex quickly realised an explorative drive towards ethically meeting wildlife and advocating for ecological coexistence. Pure passion has since taken Alex and his art across Australia and internationally, catapulting him into a Bachelor of Arts in film to ready him for exploration in the fiction and non-fiction filmmaking landscapes
